  • Eat Hydrating Foods: Include fruits like watermelon, oranges, and cucumbers in your diet.

Activity: Review heat and cold stress emergency response steps.

Emergency Response Steps for Heat Stress

  1. Move to a Cool Area: Take the affected person to a shaded or air-conditioned space immediately.

  2. Hydrate: Provide cool water or an electrolyte drink, but avoid sugary or caffeinated beverages.

  3. Cool the Body: Apply wet towels or mist the skin with cool water; fan them if possible.

  4. Call for Help: If symptoms like confusion, fainting, or high body temperature persist, call 911 immediately.

Emergency Response Steps for Cold Stress

  1. Get to Warm Shelter: Move the individual to a dry, warm environment immediately.

  2. Warm Gradually: Remove wet clothing and wrap them in blankets or warm layers. Avoid direct heat sources like heaters.

  3. Provide Warm Fluids: Offer warm, non-caffeinated drinks if they are conscious.

  4. Seek Medical Attention: For severe symptoms like slurred speech or discolored skin, call 911 without delay.
